How It All Started

It was Mothers Day 2016 when Susan and Ruedi Schuler were out on a drive through their hometown of Liberty Lake, Washington.  As continual purveyors of nature’s beauty, it wasn’t uncommon for them to explore new areas and take in the scenic views.  When they noticed some land for sale on their Sunday drive, they took a closer look and instantly fell in love with the peaceful property.

Sold on the breathtaking mountain, valley and lake views, they looked into purchasing that acreage nestled in the trees.  Located in Idaho with views of Liberty Lake and Spokane Valley, this property offered the best of both Washington and Idaho.  That day, the Schulers made a decision that changed not only their lives, but the lives of others for future generations.

Why Bent Blade?

With the goal of developing the land over time, the Schulers made the decision to purchase the property. The land sat quietly undeveloped just waiting for the day to come when Ruedi and Susan would make their mark.  In 2012 most of the family moved abroad and lived in New Zealand, Ruedi’s homeland, for 8 years.  Upon returning in 2020, Ruedi told Susan he wanted to finally do something with the beautiful treed property just 15 minutes up the mountain from their home on Meadowwood golf course in Liberty Lake.  While Ruedi was walking the property and putting his vision into action, he discovered a remnant of the land’s prior life as a logging site, in the form of a giant saw blade.  Rusted and imperfect – with a slight bend at the top – this piece of history would become the namesake of a master planned community tucked away in the hillside of North Idaho. It was then that Bent Blade Heights was born.

Property With A Purpose

56 beautiful acres was more than Ruedi and Susan needed to keep to themselves.  They wanted to share the land with people who shared their passion for not only building that forever home, but also that idyllic lifestyle on this amazing piece of property.  Their vision grew with each visit to the site.  Ruedi’s ability to envision the property’s development aided them in planning how they’d utilize each and every acre.  The first and most important decision was made to parcel off 5 lots to sell – a way for the Schulers to share their piece of paradise with others and create a purposeful community environment.

Four of the secluded lots are 5 +/- acres, and the fourth is 7 +/- acres.  Privacy has been maintained for each parcel as the trees were strategically kept to line the driveways, while some have been removed to open up the stunning lake and valley views.  A seasonal creek and a variety of wildlife complement the property already, but with plans for two man-made ponds in the future, they expect to see more bear, moose, deer, fowl and other native wildlife in the neighborhood.

There are also future plans to have rental cabins for a private mountain getaway, and for the main log home to be available as a private event venue for weddings, receptions and a conference center.  With the amount of acreage available, buyers have the opportunity to enjoy a sustainable and purposeful environment – complete with gardens, orchards, and natural wildlife.

A Labor of Love

With the talent and experience under their belts, the Schulers have dedicated countless hours to improving the property and its accessibility.  Just 15 minutes from golf courses, access to the lake, grocery stores and all the amenities of Liberty Lake, Spokane, Post Falls and Coeur d’ Alene, Bent Blade Heights offers the seclusion and privacy that so many crave, without sacrificing convenience.  If you’re interested in touring the property, contact Jason for a private appointment.
